The Master Texts
The original Oak Ridge National Laboratory reports survive as old scanned typescript. Today’s AI can give a fairly accurate overview of this subject, but the Master Texts serve a different purpose: they give CAD designers precise references, so every dimension and design choice can be traced back to what the report actually says, establishing a traceable pedigree that builds confidence.
The point is to give designers a quality baseline they can trust. From there, they can decide whether to keep an original design feature, drop it, or modify it. That only works if the baseline is reliable.
In short, the goal isn’t to have an AI write about the subject. It’s to have an AI produce verifiable references that CAD designers can base their models on with confidence.
So each report is turned into a master text, once and carefully:
- Cleaned and checked. Salt doesn’t just answer questions: she is trained to produce the master texts herself, correcting each report against the original scans and checking it through several review passes. As new AI models are released, she periodically rechecks her work against the latest model to confirm accuracy.
- Converted to metric. Every unit in the narrative and tables is converted to SI (metric) units, so the whole report is uniform and easy to compare.
- Numbered sentence by sentence. Every sentence gets its own reference number by section, so any statement can be cited and checked exactly, chapter and verse.
ORNL-4541, the Molten Salt Breeder Reactor design study, is complete, and more reports are in progress. When Salt answers, she quotes these master texts, not raw scans, and gives the reference numbers so you can check the source yourself.
